Synopsis:
Some stories cannot be told in just one lifetime. Harry August is on his deathbed. Again. No matter what he does or the decisions he makes, when death comes, Harry always returns to where he began, a child with all the knowledge of a life he has already lived a dozen times before. Nothing ever changes. Until now. As Harry nears the end of his eleventh life, a little girl appears at his bedside. “I nearly missed you, Doctor August,” she says. “I need to send a message.” This is the story of what Harry does next, and what he did before, and how he tries to save a past he cannot change and a future he cannot allow.
Average Score: 3.88
This score puts this book at number 10 in our top 10 books!
Review: This book has a really interesting concept which was enjoyed by all of us…until we started to think about multiverse options. Collectively we decided it was probably best to step away from those thoughts in case we got completely bamboozled!
The mix of history and science appealed to the group and the story zipped along fast enough to keep most people engaged in the story. As always there were some mixed feelings about plot lines and characters but as the score shows, overall the majority of the group enjoyed the book.
